About Our Coaches

Chase Wilbanks: Triple & Long jump
 Coach Wilbanks graduated from the University of West Georgia with a bachelors of art in secondary education, History. This is Coach Wilbanks 1st year here at South Forsyth. He is coming to us from Central Forsyth where he took the reins of the Triple & long jump athletes while there the boys broke the long triple jump record along with the girls breaking the long & triple jump record there as well. Had three girls compete at sectionals and one made it all the way to state in the 2020 season.



Austin Hamilton: Boys Head Coach Sprinters
Competed collegiately at the University of West Georgia from 2014-2019 for football, where he graduated with a bachelors of Science in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. He is going into his 3rd year as boys head coach and sprinting coach. Through his time here so far he has coached a 200m State champion. 100m State qualifier along with a 4x100m state qualifier in 2020. He also lead the boys to runner-up in Region for the 2021 season.His sprinters have completely wiped away the record boards at South through his coaching experience here. He is also an assistant Offensive Line coach for the Football Team here at South Forsyth.



Nadia Davila: Hurdles
 Competed collegiately at the University of West Georgia from 2016-2021, where she graduated with a bachelors of Science in Nursing. At UWG Nadia specialized in the 100mh, High Jump, heptathlon and 4x100. During her time at UWG Davila went on to hold 6 UWG school records, 2 Gulf South conference records and was indoor/outdoor conference champion in the women’s high jump. In 2020 and 2021. Nadia Davila was also a NCAA D2 National Qualifier in the women;s 100mH and High Jump.



Leanne Brooks: Girls Head Coach Throwers
Leanne Brooks is a South Forsyth alumni from the class of 2010. After graduation, she went on to play softball at Young Harris College. In her time at South, she competed for the Varsity Track and Field team all four years, where she set two school records (shot put and discus) and currently still holds the discus record. She competed at the State Meet two years during her high school career. This past year, Coach Brooks completed her sixth year as a Special Education Mathematics teacher at South Forsyth High School, and this year, she moved into the gym as a Physical Education teacher. Coach Brooks has been a part of the coaching staff at SFHS since 2014, where she has been an assistant coach for multiple sports including softball, lacrosse, track and field, and flag football. She is currently the head Softball coach, and this is her first year as the Girls Track and Field head coach.



Christine Shaw: Middle Distance
Coach Christine Shaw came to South Forsyth from Ashley Ridge High School in the fall of 2015 from Summerville, SC . Shaw taught mathematics, coached Cross Country and Track & Field. She also was a co-sponsor of their school's FCA Chapter. Coach Shaw continues to teach mathematics and joined the coaching staff as Assistant Cross-Country coach in 2015 and Head Girls Track Coach,spring of 2016. In 2019 the Athletic Department was excited to announce that Shaw would also become the Head Cross Country coach as well as continuing as Head Girls Track coach. 2015 seasons Coach Shaw was voted Men Cross Country Region Coach of the Year and Women’s Track Region Coach of the Year. South Forsyth Girls Track Team won back-to-back Region Championships in 2017 and 2018.



Laura Pifer: Middle Distance
Laura's high school running achievements include winning three national titles, qualifying for two Footlocker Cross Country Championships, and representing Team USA at the 2002 World Cross Country Championships in Ostendee, Belgium. In addition to Laura's national and international success she also was a 10x Utah High School State Champion.  Laura finished high school with personal bests of 1500m 4:25, 1600m 4.50, 3200m 10:11, and 5000m 16:29 (National Record at the time).  Laura earned a scholarship to distance running powerhouse, University of Colorado at Boulder, where Laura was part of the 2004 National Champion Cross Country team. Laura's passion for the sport led her to the University of North Florida where she was the assistant coach for the Osprey cross country team for two seasons.



Schneider: High Jump
Coach Stephan Schneider is the VP of Sales at KBS.  He has coached baseball, football, basketball and track & field for many years.  He played basketball and high jumped in HS participating in the state meet his junior and senior year.  He enjoys coaching and always wants the best for his athletes. He has been coaching with us for a couple years now.  Coach Schneider resides in Forsyth County with his wife and four children who are currently attending various universities.
